3D Hologram Phone coming within 5 years – Everything you should know!

Leia Display System is working on a project that will soon convert the science fiction into a science fact. It’s a Polish company named after Leia (Star Wars 1977 movie character) and its aiming to get this system available publicly within five years.

In the Star Wars movie released in 1977 we saw how Princess Leia appeared in front of Luke Skywalker using holography principle. If you wish to know it technically then it’s a technique using which 3D images can be made.

Chief executive of Leia Display Systems, Marcin Panek said that “Our holograms will take video phone calls to the next level. We are on the frontier of technology that was imagined in Star wars movies 40 years ago – it is science fiction becoming science fact.”

Hologram phones coming within five years!

This clearly means that Hologram phones are coming. The company will develop bring a working model in front of the world in the 2015 and within five years this technology will be in reach of a common man.

The company has already patented this and they already made it official that how a hologram phone will work. If you’re not getting use to of this ‘hologram phone’ term then you can even call this as 3D phones.

How 3D Hologram Phone will work?

A special gadget is being developed which will have two camera lenses to record videos along with a microphone to record the audio part of the phone call.

The two images being recorded by each camera will be combined and a 3D image will be created. This 3D image along with the audio will be streamed to the other person (receiver) through the internet.

On the receiver’s end, there will be a hologram machine that will receive the image with the audio and it will create the 3D image on a screen on water vapour using a laser projector.

For users it will look like a 3D picture is talking, listening and walking. This is how Panek explained the technology they developed. This is how they had planned to take video calling via phones to the next level using this holographic phone technology.

Now, we all can imagine that how our life will change using this Holographic phone technology. People will be able to attend marriages or any special events without being physically present.

Still, lot to do..

Although the prototype is ready and it will be made public in the 2015 but there are still lots of things to do. The major challenge is that how they will bring this bulkier technology into a compact size that can fit into a phone which users will call as a 3D Holographic phone or Hologram Technology or Hologram phone or whatever related they like.

Price of these 3D phones developed using hologram technology is going to be thousands of dollars in starting but later it will come down as they will become more common as like we have smartphones these days.

I’m really excited to see this science-fiction becoming a science fact. Mr. Panek concluded with “It is not impossible and with the technology moving so fast, it is only a matter of time.”
