When to Expect Apple iPhone with Flexible Display?

June 20, 2013 by sarvesh

Apple claimed at the launch of iPhone 5 that it’s the “best thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone” but majority of people around the world didn’t agree with that.

Now it’s more than six months passed of iPhone 5 launches and Apple will be preparing for the iPhone 5S which will be the upgraded version of iPhone 5 in terms of features and may be display. Apple also announced the first beta version of its new looking iOS 7.

But still people are not going crazy with any of them and they are seriously waiting for the iPhone 6. I must correct the last line that people are waiting for iPhone 6 with flexible display. It may be iPhone 6 or any higher version of iPhone but it should be with flexible display.

I recently posted about what all will be there in the Next iPhone, you must read it because I don’t think that Apple is going to use flexible display technology with iPhone 6.

Yes, before the launch of iPhone 5 there were many assumptions made that it’s going to feature transparent display or flexible display but nothing such was there.

But now if I go along with the latest patent mark by the Apple, it seems like Apple working on an iPhone with flexible display. There are lots of rumors going which states that LG is going to be the first manufacturer to announce smartphone with flexible display and then Apple is going to the next. A report came out on The Verge which claimed that LG is going to launch a new smartphone with flexible display before 2014.

This was the image leaked by Patently Apple blog which clearly shows that on what technology Apple has got the patent and for what they seem to be working.

Samsung has already shown few devices with flexible display in the CES 2013 and they said to be working on flexible OLED displays.

Not Just Display But Flexible Components too!

In order to make flexible display a reality the other components of the device should also be flexible and this is going to be the real challenge for every manufacturer and Apple too.

Manufacturing a flexible battery design and implementing it practically will not an easy job and Apple will definitely take its time before making any such debut.

There will be new iOS or a dedicated version of iOS for this flexible iPhone and Apple need to manufacture a new flexible chipset as well.

When iPhone with flexible display will launch?

If Apple is manufacturing iPhone 6 with the flexible display then it’s not going to arrive this year as Apple need to make the device really working and successful in order to maintain its authority.
