Last year, BlackBerry finally gave into the fast moving bullet train that Android is and released an Android phone, the BlackBerry Priv. With expectations from BlackBerry an all time low and barely any market presence, coupled with a high pricing, the BlackBerry Priv was never going to be a success. However, those who used the phone actually came out with positive words, which is as rare as watching Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United playing fast attacking and free-flowing football.
BlackBerry followed this up with diligent regular monthly updates as well as the rollout for Android Marshmallow in the last few weeks. At the same time, BlackBery also pledged its support for Android stating that it is the future and it would continue to work on Android phones.
It looks like we may have got an early peek at some of these new upcoming BlackBerry devices, with 51BlackBerry getting their hands on images of what are believed to be the two upcoming Android phones. Both the phones have very distinct form factors with the bigger of the two devices similar to Priv but without the slide-out keyboard while the other device is a pure touchscreen phone with just a speaker grille at the bottom.
The former device has been codenamed Rome and features a touchscreen display with a full QWERTY keyboard at the bottom with a metallic frame. The other device is codenamed Hamburg, which comes with a touchscreen with speaker grille at the bottom with no keyboard. Both the devices are expected to be mid-range devices, with no clear indication of their hardware specs or even their launch dates so far.
