The new iPhone 6S looks the same as the iPhone 6 and to be honest, there usually isn’t much difference between an ‘S’ version and the original, so is the new iPhone 6S really worth the upgrade?
Well, if you are still on the old iPhone 5, you will notice a big difference in functionality and there are enough differences between the 6 and the 6S to make the upgrade worth it for many users. So, let’s take a look at what you can expect with the iPhone 6S.
Design changes
The only real change in design is that the iPhone 6S looks a little thicker, which may be in part to fix bending problem and also to accommodate the new touch screen. The one distinctive feature is the new rose-gold colour, but apart from that -if you put the two versions side by side, you won’t see much difference between the two of them, but that’s OK if the changes under the hood are worthwhile.
3D Touch
The main change is that the screen is similar to the Apple Watch, in that the screen is pressure sensitive, allowing you to pull up menus by pressing on the screen (in effect similar to right clicking on a mouse). You can also switch apps, check your photos or access shortcuts using 3D Touch. On its own this is a great feature, but is not necessarily enough to make anything less than a die-hard Apple lover upgrade to the iPhone 6S from the 6.
Camera upgrades
The upgrades to the camera are really the biggest drawcard and will most probably make any fence sitters buy the new iPhone 6S. You now have a massive 12 megapixel rear camera with autofocus, optical image stabilisation and extreme colour accuracy (you still have the time lapse and slow motion capabilities).
The front camera is now upgraded to 5 megapixels and has the addition of Live Photo, where you just take your photo as normal, but you can turn it into video or GIF. Though who knows why you would do that, particularly when it is twice the file size of a regular photo.
Faster speeds
You have a 64-bit architecture (the A9) so the phone runs faster, particularly when compared to the iPhone 5. Though for iPhone 6 users, this might not be enough to make you upgrade to the 6S.
Concluding thoughts about the iPhone 6S
If you don’t have an iPhone 6 or are thinking of converting over to Apple from an Android phone, then the iPhone 6S is a great little phone with lots of high-tech functionality. So, if you are ready to make the jump to the new iPhone 6S, then iiNet offers the newest iPhone, so check them out today.
