Xiaomi announced the MIUI 7 at a global event a couple of weeks ago. The event was so popular that on social media site, Twitter, you had more people talking about the MIUI 7 update as well as the new Xiaomi phones than even the most recently announced Galaxy Note 5. Such has been the popularity of Mi devices that even Samsung is slowly starting to take the notice and feel the buzz that the Apple of China is creating.
While the update is not out for all the devices, Xiaomi has already released the Beta update for all the supported devices. So, if you own any of the following Xiaomi devices, you may want to try out the Beta version of MIUI 7 on your device including: Redmi 2, Redmi 1S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G and the Redmi Note 4G.
The new MIUI 7 update brings several new features including better battery performance, faster response timings, support for facial recognition, support for up to 10 local Indian languages as well as a new Child Mode. Not just this, there is an interesting IVR mode, where Xiaomi has tied up with several players like Tata Sky, Indigo, Spicejet etc where you will be able to see the IVR options when you call their customer services instead of just hearing them. The MIUI 7 update also brings a strong DND Mode in conjunction with the Mi Band, where once the band detects you are asleep, it would automatically put the phone to a DND mode making sure your sleep is not disturbed. Not just this, you also have greater readability options with up to five fonts to choose form in the supported local Indian languages as well as the usual set of bug fixes.
Another interesting feature is the SMS block feature, where anybody who is not a part of your contact list, when messages to you, the device will automatically send the message to another folder rather than your inbox, to help you deal with spam. This is very similar to the way TrueMessenger app works.
Well, that definitely is an exciting list of features in the new MIUI 7 update and if you cannot wait to check it out, you can already install the Beta update by following the steps below:
Step 1: You will need to first head over to the Mi Forums for MIUI 7 here.
