If you own an HTC One M8, time for you to look away right now. HTC has officially confirmed that the latest devices in its lineup will be getting an Android N update and not really unexpectedly HTC One M8 does not feature. HTC has confirmed that the first devices in the lineup to get the update would be the latest HTC 10, HTC One M9 and the HTC One A9. The update would be rolled out sometime towards the end of the year.
With Google set to release the final version of Android N sometime in the summer, given that the first Beta release already available, you would expect the release date of Android N sometime around the last quarter of the year. We are fairly sure that this is just a first round of release and there would be more devices that would be added to the roster in the coming days. What is also interesting is that HTC is the first one to come out with an announcement for updating their lineup of devices to Android N. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that HTC is already working with Google on the next Nexus and therefore already has started working on Android N? Who knows.
So far, from what we have seen, Android N looks to be a pretty major update, both functionally and visually. The Notification shade is all new and done, and so is the keyboard decked with themes, new multi-tasking features, new settings app and much more. If you have a Nexus smartphone, you can go ahead and already download the beta version of the update from here.
