The Taiwanese tech giant HTC had sent media invites for an event to happen today and it was claimed that the firm will be launching the Desire 820 in the country. Well, the vendor did announce the Desire 820 for the market alongside two other smartphones, Desire 820q and Desire 816G with the latter priced at Rs 18,990. The pricing of the other two models remain unknown for now.
HTC has announced that the Desire 816G will be available for sale starting early October, whereas the other two smartphones will be hitting the retail shelves only in November.
Talking of specifications, all the three smartphones are fitted with a specious 5.5 inch Super LCD2 display featuring a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixel resolution that translates to a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. While the Desire 820 and Desire 820q screens are topped with the scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, the one on the Desire 816G does not feature one.
Under the hood, the Desire 820 is stuffed with a 64 bit Snapdragon 615 quad-core SoC that comes with 8 cores of Cortex A53 processors segmented in two clusters operating at 1.5 GHz and 1 GHz clock speeds respectively. This SoC is teamed up with 2 GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking. On the other hand, the Desire 820q uses a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with a Cortex A53 cluster ticking at 1.2 GHz clock speed and 1 GB of RAM. Finally, the Desire 816G employs a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor to power it from within.
On the storage department, the Desire 820 and Desire 820q are packed with an ample 16 GB of internal storage capacity, whereas the Desire 816G comes bundled with 8 GB of native storage space. Anyways, all the smartphones come with expandable storage support up to 128 GB. Also, the primary snapper module on all the three smartphones is the same with a 13 MP main camera with BSI sensor, LED flash, auto focus and f2.2 aperture. At the front, there is an 8 MP BSI sensor on the Desire 820 offerings, whereas the Desire 816G has a 5 MP selfie camera.
Other aspects of these smartphones fueled by Android 4.4.4 KitKat topped with Sense 6.0 UI include dual SIM support, dual front-facing BoomSound speakers and a 2,600 mAh battery. While the Desire 820 and Desire 820q arrive with 4G LTE support, the Desire 816G sticks on with 3G connectivity.
