HTC not only launched a slew of smartphones in India, but also the RE Camera carrying a price tag of Rs 9,990. The GoPro like action camera will be made available exclusively via online retailer Snapdeal starting from November 5, 2014. It is claimed that this priming will be an introductory promotional offer that is limited to a specific time period.
The RE Camera is rugged and waterproof with IP57 rating and comes with a cylindrical design that resembles a periscope.
The HTC RE camera features a 16 MP CMOS sensor that has a 146 mm ultra wide angle lens and f/2.8 aperture to capture images with a wider frame. Also, this camera allows in capturing FHD videos at 30 fps, HD videos at 120 fps and slow motion videos. Moreover, the RE Camera features time lapse options also to enhance the user experience.
HTC has used an 820 mAh battery in the RE Camera that allows users to shoot for up to 1.5 hours of video recording and 1,200 16 MP photos eradicating the concerns regarding battery drain. The RE Camera is packed with 8 GB of internal storage capacity and it can be expanded externally by another 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card.
The connectivity aspects of the HTC RE Camera include Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi. Interestingly, the camera supports HTC Zoe application that doubles as a video editing tool. The camera uses a LED indicator that will flash red when the user clicks a picture and white when recording a video. It will flash blue when recording slow motion videos.
The photos and videos captured by the RE Camera can be streamed seamlessly over Wi-Fi and the application is compatible on both Android and iOS platforms. Users can control the rugged camera device remotely via this application and transform their smartphone into a remote viewfinder. The HTC RE camera is compatible with devices based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and above and iOS 7 and above.
