Chinese smartphone manufacturer Lenovo has announced S580 smartphone that is the latest addition to the S lineup. The firm has priced the Lenovo S580 at Rs 8,999 and it is claimed that the device will be made available exclusively via Snapdeal.
The Lenovo S580 is designed to be a compact, lightweight and stylish smartphone in the budget market. The device features a laser etched fabric like rear cover that provides a cool look and better grip to the smartphone. The S580 houses a 5 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch.
Under its hood, there is a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor ticking at 1.2 GHz clock speed aided by 1 GB of RAM. This hardware combination is claimed to provide smooth and responsive music and video playback and gaming. For imaging, the Lenovo S580 makes use of an 8 MP primary camera with auto focus, LED Flash, panorama and HDR shooting modes and a 2 MP front facing fixed focus selfie snapper. Other photography related features include smile shot, best shot, geo-tagging and scene detection.
The Lenovo offering bundles a standard 8 GB of native storage capacity that can be extended externally by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Connectivity aspects onboard the S580 are Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, A-GPS and dual SIM functionality. There is a 2,150 mAh battery powering the device from within and it is claimed to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 444 hours of standby time respectively on 3G networks.
On the software front, the Lenovo S580 is based on the dated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. However, the vendor claims that the device can be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
Apart from this, like the other Lenovo smartphones, the S580 also includes preloaded DOit applications including SECUREit that helps in tracking, optimizing and analyzing data usage and to protect the device against virus, malware and spam, SHAREit for rapid sharing of photos, applications and other content between devices without a Wi-Fi connection or network charges and SYNCit to have a backup of all the data making them accessible via any device.
Also, Lenovo has announced a clear case with a snap stand bumper that will facilitate in protecting the phone and also double as a kickstand for convenient hands-free viewing.
