Remember LG G3? Loved it? Now it’s time for the G4.
Samsung unveiled its best smartphone ever (Galaxy S6) in the first week of March and right now its S6 holds onto the crown of best Android phone of 2015.
For the first time in my smartphone dominated life, I liked a Samsung smartphone. But now I’m getting a feeling that Galaxy S6 is about to lose the crown.
The device which will be the reason behind this is going to be LG G4. Yes, another Korean smartphone brand in the competition.
But this is going to be good for us, yeah, for customers.
LG G4 Teasers
In last 10 hours, LG has released three new teasers showcasing camera and video features of the upcoming G4 along with its all new Android skin (named UX 4.0).
First, let’s talk about the camera.
In the last month, Samsung launched Galaxy S6 with a rear camera that was having f/1.9 aperture lens. This wide lens helped the device to take gorgeous snaps in the wide variety of lighting conditions.
But that dominance is going to be over soon. Since, LG G4 is about to have a lens with a f/1.8 aperture in the rear camera that is going to be able to capture images in slightly wider view, definitely outrunning Galaxy S6.
If you’re not aware how this will affect the picture quality, then let me give you a brief cheat sheet over here.
The smaller ‘f’ aperture number allows the camera to capture a picture with more amount of light, which increases the details in the picture and thus the quality.
The worst part for Samsung is that, it won’t be able to get ahead of LG with any software update, unless LG’s camera software turns out less capable than of Samsung’s.
Now next, the user experience.
TouchWiz is what Samsung calls its Android skin while LG named it UX. We’ve already seen an upgraded version of TouchWiz with lesser bloatware and now its turn for the LG.
In a recently released teaser of what its upcoming UX will look like, it seems like LG is going to win the battle again.
This is because, Samsung didn’t remove bloatware completely, rather they are deactivated by default, but they are still on your device.
After watching the video teaser of LG UX 4.0, it seems like LG has taken deep care of all those software bloatware and finally got rid of them.
In short, the UI becomes cleaner, simpler increasing the user experience.

I do hope that G4 comes out in more compact size (i.e. with minimum bezels) and also weigh less.
G4 Design and Material
No doubt, G3 was one of the best looking smartphones last year with a premium built. This design methodology helped LG to outrun Galaxy S5 by a huge margin, which was rejected by customers due to its plastic apparel.
Now, since Samsung has used premium material and design, LG’s path is tough. If, G4 comes out with simpler and unique design then no doubt, we all know who will win the race at the final moment.
But, I hope LG doesn’t get anything wrong in the perfect recipe.
Let’s wait for the April 28th, when we all get official details. Till then, I’ll keep you posted.
