Mobile world congress is no doubt the biggest annual event in mobile world as plethora of smartphones, tablets and smartwatches are launched every year. Speaking of which this year it is going to be every bit as big with some rumblings about some key players showcasing their astounding creations in Mobile World Congress 2015 in March, which is just around the corner.Smartwatches have started to take off only recently as our favourite android wearables. But that’s going to change this year. Yes guys!! It’s definitely going to change.
LG, after launching many smartwatches has come up with something new. Actually there are two things that are new. First, LG G Watch Urbane LTE is going to be the first smartwatch with LTE connectivity as you have guessed from the name. Second, this is the first android smartwatch not based on Andoid. Yes! You heard me right. LG has ditched Android in favour of a proprietary OS from LG.
I know what you are thinking, WebOS!!! Right! But here comes the shocker. LG has already announced that WebOS is not going to be on board. So we will have to wait until MWC 2015 which is next week to find out more.
Speaking of LG G Watch Urbane LTE’s specifications are quite impressive. LTE on a smartwatch means that it can maintain its own cellular connectivity and you can make voice calls without needing a smartphone which is captivating. In addition to LTE it has a massive 700mAh battery on board which is quite respectable as earlier smartwatches were powered by just 300-400mAh batteries. It’s not over yet. The smartwatch incorporates a battery friendly feature enabling it to automatically turns off the display when you take it off your wrist. The stainless steel beauty has a bevy of sensors including a gyroscope, accelerator, compass, atmospheric pressure, heartbeat and GPS. The watch also features NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, waterproofing certification and smart wallet functionality which will enable you to access mobile payments.
Apart from this LG G Watch Urbane LTE has 1GB of Ram coupled with quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU which means this thing will flex some serious muscles for something that’s made to tick on your wrist. What’s more you can wish for? LG will be unveiling this watch next week at MWC 2015.
