After weeks of speculation and missing earlier release dates OnePlus has finally released the Android Lollipop 5.0.2 based Oxygen OS. Speaking of Oxygen OS it is OnePlus’s own operating system for the smartphone One aka the flagship killer. The rom was released today and is one of the most beautiful and astouding roms out there. The roms sports a much cleaner and bloatware free interface and will be a retreat for all the OnePlus One users. It comes with many new customization options never seen before in any other rom. The rom is mostly stock android with some over the top customization. It was earlier reported that the rom is getting delayed due to certification issues from Google as well as advanced testing and optimization. The ultimate product is a refined and absolutely beautiful looking Oxygen OS and will be exclusively available to OnePlus One’s users only. But it can be ported to other devices as well in the future.
Commenting on the release of the rom, the CEO of OnePlus on official blog:
“Developing OxygenOS has been an incredibly fun and challenging experience for all of us. In this environment where everyone is fighting to standout with custom ROMs, we think it’s important to go back to basics. We place things like performance and battery life over gimmicks and bloated features.
We want to be careful that we aren’t adding features simply for the sake of differentiation. We’ve implemented some important features thus far, but they are subtle and meaningful. That’s our philosophy behind OxygenOS: keep it light and essential.”
