OnePlus announced the OnePlus Two midst a lot of hype and noise about how it would be the flagship killer of 2015. So much was the hype around the device that OnePlus used the Hashtag hype on their social media profiles across in order to spread the communication. After the launch, when the initial set of reviews started coming it was clear that while the OnePlus Two was a very capable phone in itself, it was no where near worthy of the tag of a Flagship Killer like its predecessor was. Comparisons with current flagships, both in terms of hardware and software saw the OnePlus Two really lagging a step or two behind. Add to it the dreaded invite system which makes it virtually impossible for a n average Joe to pick up the device, meant that there were plenty of disillusioned users.
It came to a point that Carl Pie had to write on the official OnePlus One forums, holding his hand up and apologizing and admitting that they did not do the justice they thought they would to the OnePlus Two and that they had failed. The post so far has been taken well with the fans who really want to see OnePlus deliver on their promise of making more devices available as well as resolving the dreaded software issues on the new Oxygen ROM.
While the dust on the same settles gradually, OnePlus has already teased the next big thing coming to the OnePlus Two. So far, the OnePlus Two has been made available in the rugged sandstone back as well as option to add a wooden back cover just like that on the OnePlus One. Other than this, the OnePlus Two backs are available in Kevlar, Bamboo, Rosewood and few other options. However, if the post on the Google+ page of OnePlus is to be believed then, the phone will soon get a leather back option too. With most of the back options available at Rs 1,699, you would expect that would only be the price of the new leather panel too. It would be available on Amazon in India, thanks to the exclusive partnership that exists between OnePlus and Amazon in India.
