Samsung is all set to launch their new J series of smartphones in India today. The phones in question are the J5 (2016) and the J7 (2016) which went on sale some time back in China.Samsung has put a dedicated banner on Flipkart and it looks like the new J Series may be online exclusive. Samsung has put videos from three mainstream Indian bloggers like Geeky Ranjit. C4ETech and iGyaan explaining about the J series.
Samsung’s has chosen to go with a metal frame on these smartphones and the back is still made out of plastic. These phones are the updated versions of the Samsung Galaxy J5 and the Samsung Galaxy J7 launched last year. The J5 and J7 were good phones with decent hardware launched at an affordable price.
The Samsung J5 (6) is a smaller phone with a 5.2-inch screen and a 720P AMOLED display. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor which is the exact same model like the predecessor. The J5 (6) has 2GB of RAM on board which should help the smartphone perform better. The Samsung Galaxy J7 (6) on the other hand has a slightly larger 5.5-inch display with the same resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The J7 is powered by an Exynos 7870 processor along with 2GB RAM.
Samsung is using the same camera sensors on both the new phones. The primary camera is a 13-megapixel sensor with an f 1.9 aperture value. This should help the camera significantly in capturing images in low light conditions. The front camera isn’t ignored and is a 5-megapixel sensor accompanied with a front facing LED flash.
In terms of software, both the phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow under its custom TouchWiz skin. The phones are 4G enabled and support the required Indian bands. The Galaxy J5 has a 3100mAh battery while the bigger J7 gets a 3300mAh battery. The new J series is expected to go on sale today with the J5 going for Rs. 13999 and the Galaxy J7 for Rs 15,999.
