World’s largest online music streaming site Spotify has decided to team up with the Gaming console giant Sony PlayStation division. The news was announced yesterday on their company blog about the partnership. The service will be reaching the users as PlayStation Music.
As part of the team up the Sony has decided to put an end to the Music Unlimited service in all the region. Spotify is considered as one of the largest music streaming service. Around 60 million people are enjoying the service through Spotify. From the last couple of years Spotify has given the official rights for digital distribution of music from Sony music releasing company.
Within the companies blog the news was headlined as “Hello PlayStation, Spotify Here”. They also provided an email subscription link to get notified about the releasing time of Spotify on PlayStation. As a beginning stage the Spotify service will be rolling out on 41 countries. Unfortunately India is not one among them.
Gamers will be able to stream online music while playing the game on a PlayStation devices. You can enjoy the Spotify service on PlayStation 3 and the new member PlayStation 4. Users will be able to create their own playlist. As a starting stage Spotify will be providing a one month free trail for the new PlayStation users. After that you have to pay a certain amount for further service.
For those who are using the Spotify services through their smartphones this is a great advantage. Because they can link their Spotify account with PlayStation Network. So all you have to pay is for one service. You can even use the PlayStation wallet which is a virtual payment service provided by the Sony in PlayStation to pay or renew their Spotify subscriptions.
Other than the PlayStation you can avail the services in Sony LCD/LED smart TV’s, Xperia Smartphone’s and Tablets using the PlayStation Network account. The current music streaming facility in PlayStation which is Music unlimited will stop their services from March 29 onwards. Those who are subscribed for the service will be transferred to the Spotify accounts.
Sony’s official also mentioned that they will be expanding the services further more countries once it has been officially launched.
