These days, the selfie trend is booming and has paved way for selfie focused smartphones. While there are not many selfie oriented devices for now, Sony announced the Xperia C3 last month and the device is now official in the Indian market. It is the dual SIM variant of the handset that is launched in the country and it is priced at Rs 23,990. Also, the Xperia C3 will hit the retail shelves starting from September 1, 2014.
The highlight of the Sony Xperia C3 is undoubtedly its front-facing snapper that is a 5 MP sensor with a 25 mm wide-angle lens, 80 degree wide field of view and LED flash. This camera is capable of recording HD 720p videos as well. Also, there are selfie oriented features such as self timer, Superior Auto mode, Portrait Retouch, beatification, option to capture images by just double tapping the back cover and Smile Shutter along with other new features.
At the back, there is an 8 MP primary snapper that is teamed up with LED flash, Exmor RS sensor and FHD 1080p video recording capabilities. Sony has given the Xperia C3 a 5.5 inch HD TRILIMINOS display with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. Under the hood, there is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor paired with Adreno 305 graphics unit and 1 GB of RAM.
Storage wise, the Xperia C3 comes with 8 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded by another 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Running on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the selfie smartphone comes packed with usual connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and 3G and houses a 2,500 mAh battery with STAMINA mode.
Sony has launched the Xperia C3 in black, white and mint color variants for a price tag of Rs 23,990. As mentioned above, the device will enter sale starting from September 1 via all the major retail outlets, Sony Smartphone Lounge and SonyCenter.
On the competition, there are no selfie focused smartphones in the Indian market for now with Sony having ventured into this category with the Xperia C3 as the pioneer. Soon, Lava is expected to launch the Iris X5 smartphone with such a selfie focused feature.
