It has been a while since we heard anything about Sony Xperia Smartphones. Well it looks like the wait is over. Sony has launched a new Xperia Smartphone dubbed as J1 Compact. This is a remarkable smartphone with remarkable specifications. While saying so this is Sony’s first “Sim-Free” smartphone. The smartphone is first unveiled in Japan and will be available with Japan’s NTT Docomo communication network. The pre-orders for the smartphone will be start from March 27 with the smartphone officially available to customers starting April 20. The term “Sim-Free” means that the Xperia J1 incorporates the MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) support and will place voice calls over the NTT Docomo network with multitude of plans available for the consumers.
Xperia J1 Compact as the name signifies is just another compact smartphone with compact dimensions. It sports a 4.3 inch 720p display inside a metal frame with an amazing display density of 341 PPI. With screen to body ratio of just 61% and metallic frame will lend it a premium feel. Though it is not sleek at all with thickness around 9.7mm. Specifications aside Xperia J1 Compact will offer a pleasurable experience. It is worth noting that this compact smartphone comes with dust and water protection ratings as it is seen with other Xperia devices.
Xperia J1 Compact is packing underneath some serious top notch hardware. Speaking of which is flaunts a 2.2 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2 GB of Ram. Adreno 330 GPU is present to deliver a powerful graphic experience whether the graphic hungry games be played or regular video streaming. The smartphone brings on board 16 GB of storage space which can be further expanded with the help of micro SD card. It runs Android Kitkat 4.4.4 out of the box and it is unknown at this point of time whether it will be getting the Lollipop update or not.
Xperia J1 Compact packs in a massive 20.7 MP rear camera with LED flash and 2.2 MP front camera. So it is not worth mentioning about the quality of the images delivered by this massive 20.7 MP camera lens. Weighing just 138 grams it is packing almost all the connectivity features like the LTE connectivity along with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. This compact smartphone will be drawing power from a 2300 mAh non-removable battery underneath which will keep it running for a long time without running out of juice.
Currently Xperia J1 Compact is launched in Japan at JPY 59,184 which comes around Rs.30,000 approx. Whether this smartphone will be available globally or not is still not known at this point of time. But this handset will be a real delight to use.
