Few days back, at the IFA 2014 tech show in Berlin, the Japanese tech vendor Sony announced the launch of a slew of devices including the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Now, it appears like the flagship smartphone of the trio will be launching in India on September 19. It has to be noted that the smartphone is currently on pre-order on numerous countries across the world.
Moreover, Sony’s current flagship smartphone Xperia Z2 has been on sale only for four months and so soon we can expect its successor to replace it. While it is claimed that the Xperia Z3 will be launching in India on September 19, there is no clear picture on its pricing or on the specific release dates of the smartphone. Anyways, it would be a great competitor to the flagship smartphones that are already available and those that will be heading to India.
To recap on its specifications, the Xperia Z3 will be sporting a 5.2 inch FHD 1080p Triluminos display with X-Reality engine. The handset incorporates a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC ticking at 2.5 GHz under its hood and this is paired with Adreno 330 graphics unit, 3 GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking and 4G LTE modem.
Fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat, the Sony flagship smartphone comes with a 20.7 MP primary camera at its back teamed up with auto focus, LED flash, Exmor RS sensor, 4K video capturing and 8x digital zoom. At the front, the handset uses a front-facing 2.2 MP selfie camera. Some of the camera centric features onboard include Pulsed LED flash, SteadyShot, Superior Auto – automatic scene selection, HDR for photos and videos and more.
The Xperia Z3 bundles in 16 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded externally by a whopping 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Connectivity features onboard the Sony flagship device are 4G LTE, aGPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Wi-Fi and WiFi Hotspot. The Sony Xperia Z3 employs a 3,100 mAh battery with the Battery STAMINA mode feature that will pump in up to 19 hours and up to 740 hours of standby time.
