Ever since Xiaomi announced three of this smartphones for the Indian market, the release of the Redmi Note and Redmi 1S is highly anticipated. With the posting of a teaser on the official Mi Facebook page and the listing of the Redmi 1S on Flipkart have triggered this expectation of consumers and the tech media as well.
In the meantime, Xiaomi has started sending media invites for separate events to be held in Bangalore and Delhi. The invite confirms that the Redmi 1S will be launched at the event and that it will be made available for a price tag of Rs 6,999. With such an aggressive pricing, the handset will definitely be a touch challenger to the homegrown brands and few global vendors that have been dominating this particular market segment.
We can also say that with such a low pricing, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S will definitely follow the path of the Mi3 in terms of flash sales. The Xiaomi Mi3 has created a record in selling swiftly within few seconds leaving behind many frustrated consumers. With a price tag of Rs 6,999, it is sure that the Redmi 1S could also face such an issue if the vendor does not provide enough stocks to quench the demand of the consumers.
Going by the specifications, the Redmi 1S is given a 4.7 inch IPS display with HD 720p resolution and is stuffed with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. An Adreno 305 graphics engine and 1 GB of RAM aide this processor in delivering decent performance There is an 8 MP primary camera that is coupled with LED flash, BSI sensor and FHD 1080p video recording at the back and this is paired with a 1.6 MP front-facer for making video calls and clicking self portrait shots.
When it comes to the storage department, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S bundles 8 GB of internal storage capacity that can be extended externally by another 64 GB using a micro SD card. Other aspects onboard the handset include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, GPS and a 2,000 mAh battery.
