Lately, there were numerous reports regarding the Xiaomi Redmi 2S that is alleged to be the successor of the entry level Redmi 1S. Now, it appears like there is a confirmed launch date for the smartphoe and it is believed to go official on January 4, ahead of the CES 2015 tech show. The same has come to light via a poster the Xiaomi has uploaded suggesting the date of the event as shown in the image below.
The handset was recently spotted on the Chinese regulatory website TENAA and it appeared to be the successor of the Redmi 1S with support for 4G LTE connectivity. Xiaomi uploaded a poster on its Weibo account and it shows three women holding smartphones with a rear panel that resemble the one on the leaked image of TENAA listing of Redmi 2S.
Going by the latest leaked AnTuTu benchmarks and TENAA listings, the rumored Redmi 2S smartphone is likely to arrive with a 4.7 inch HD 720p display and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. Under its hood, the device is claimed to be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Cortex A53 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 graphics unit and 1 GB of RAM. Also, the chipset is said to be LTE enabled hinting that the device will support 4G LTE connectivity via both SIM cards.
Furthermore, the Redmi 2S is said to include an 8 MP primary camera at its back and a 2 MP front facing selfie snapper. In addition, the TENAA listing made it clear that the Redmi 2S will pack 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded externally by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card and get energized by a 2,200 mAh battery.
We can also expect the Xiaomi Arch smartphone with dual edge display to also be showcased at the January 4 event. However, there is no confirmation from Xiaomi regarding the handset that will be launched at the event.
