Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone brand, in an event to celebrate its successful completion of 5 years in the industry, launched a new smartphone as a nice surprise for the Xiaomi fans worldwide. The new smartphone is dubbed as Redmi 2A and the unique feature of this smartphone is that it comes with a Leadcore processor underneath. The latest smartphone from Xiaomi is a budget offering and is launched in China at a price of CNY 599 which is close to Rs. 6000 and will be available at a special discounted price of CNY 499 which is Rs. 5000 on April 8 exclusively in China.
Redmi 2A boasts a standard 4.7 inch HD IPS display sporting a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It is identically similar to the recently unveiled Redmi 2 with a different CPU altogether. It packs a Cortex A7 based quad-core Leadcore L1860C processor clocking 1.5 GHz along with Mali T628MP2 graphics engine. It comes with 1 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded to 32 GB with micro SD card.
The dual sim smartphone runs Android Kitkat 4.4 out of the box with latest version of MIUI 6 on top of it. Redmi 2A features an 8 MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor along with OmniVision sensor. The rear camera is capable of recording full-HD i.e. 1080p videos. The front camera is a 2MP snapper which is also capable of recording 720p videos. It will be nice retreat for the camera centered and selfie fans.
On the connectivity front, it comes equipped with LTE connectivity along with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone is drawing power from a 2200 mAh battery underneath which will provide a descent usage time over normal to moderate usage. As of now the smart is available to purchase only in China and there is no word whether it will be available globally or not. Considering Xiaomi’s portfolio to increase the investment in India, chances are fair that this smartphone will be launching soon in Indian market in near future.
