No better way for a March closing than a shiny new gadget launch, right? Xiaomi definitely seems to have done well enough for themselves in the calendar year to be picking up the dreaded date for every service class Indian as it gets ready to launch its latest flagship in India. Xiaomi originally announced the Mi5 in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress in February and just over a month later, the phone is set to launch in India.
Xiaomi is looking to take advantage of the great wave of excitement generated by the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 has generated and would be looking to drop another mega-hit of a product that the Mi5 is at least based on the limited time that the media has had with the phone. The Xiaomi Mi5 will also incidentally, be the first smartphone to ship with the latest Snapdragon processor in the form of the Snapdragon 820 SoC. The phone comes with a front facing Home button with a fingerprint scanner on it. The screen on the phone is a 5.15-inch display with 1080P resolution.

The phone is available in 3 GB RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage variant as well as a 4 GB and 128 GB ROM version. It is not clear if all of the three will be launched in India or not. There is a Dual SIM on board as well as a 16 MP rear camera along with a 4 MP front facing snapper. The Mi5 packs a 3000 mAh battery and comes with an IR blaster out of the box, too.
The live stream of the launch will go live starting at 2:30PM on 31st of March and would be available on the Xiaomi Youtube channel.
