Asus PadFone mini with Intel SoC Launched in India for Rs 15,999

Asus PadFone lineup is pretty impressive allowing users to experience a smartphone and a tablet with a single device. Today, the Taiwanese tech firm has announced the launch of the PadFone mini PF400CG for the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 15,999.

Likewise other devices in the PadFone lineup, the PadFone mini is also a two-in-one device that is basically a smartphone that can double as a tablet once it is docked onto the PadFone station.

While it is a smartphone, the device will carry a 4 inch display and when housed into the PadFone dock it becomes a 7 inch tablet. Basically, those who like to experience both smartphones and tablets as and when required can opt in for the PadFone mini.

As mentioned above, in the smartphone mode, the PadFone mini carries a 4 inch IPS+ display that comes with a WVGA screen resolution of 480×800 pixels. Docking to the PadFone station converts it to a tablet with a 7 inch IPS+ display with a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels.

When it comes to the raw hardware segment, the PadFone mini arrives equipped with a dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor that ticks at 1.6 GHz clock speed. This processor is assisted by 1 GB of RAM for swift multi-tasking. Furthermore, the PadFone mini bundles 8 GB of internal storage capacity that is standard and there is provision to expand this storage space externally by another 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card.

The Asus offering features a standard imaging hardware comprising of an 8 MP rear snapper that uses the PixelMaster technology and a front facing 2 MP selfie camera. Connectivity aspects of the device include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB and dual SIM functionality.

While the PadFone mini is used a smartphone, it gets energized by means of a 1,170 mAh battery and when it is docked to the PadFone station, it makes use of a 2,100 mAh battery.

On the software front, the Asus hybrid device runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS that is dated, but the firm has assured that the device will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update in future. Also, the platform will be topped with the Asus Zen UI with a unique user experience.

While the Asus PadFone mini has been launched officially, Flipkart has posted a teaser tipping that the device will be going on sale exclusively via the retailer soon.
