From the starting days of Android operating system, users were never satisfied with the battery life they are getting. Although the latest version of Android i.e. Jelly Bean brought major improvements in the battery life but still this section needs lots of home work to be done.
The battery of Android device depends on the display, internet connectivity and many other factors. Now we don’t have any scope in the display sector but we can try applying some battery saving tips in other sectors. You may have heard about rooting of Android devices. By rooting your device you can get all the system privileges and can control or customize your devices at even deeper levels.

Know battery usage
Android smartphones come with preloaded battery app from where you can get your battery usage details. You’ll find that most of the battery is used by the display. As I mentioned in starting that you can’t minimize battery usage of display but you can minimize of other apps.
Although you can minimize the brightness of your smartphone to save battery but I won’t recommend you doing this as lowering the brightness makes content viewing harder in day but you can surely try it during night.
To adjust the display brightness you need to either check following path, Settings > Display > Brightness or you can also get to this setting from the quick setting menu in notification (for Jelly Bean users).
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & GPS
These three can consume your battery life and as you wish to extend battery life so you need to make sure that these three connectivity features are turned off when they are not being used.
Android provides icons of these three connectivity features right at the top and if they are left turned on then you can find their icons. This is how you can come to know that you need to turn them off to extend battery life.
Live wallpapers and animations
Android provides customization powers to the users and there are tons of apps available in the Google play store which will provide you live wallpapers and different animations.
These features will surely make your device look better but on the other hand they will also consume the battery life which is already a critical issue. Now you’ve to choose either animation or an extended battery life.
Synchronization
There are lots of apps particularly the social networking which consumes great amount of battery life. As we need to stay connected to our virtual social world so we can’t delete those apps but we can turn off the automatic synchronization feature of them.
Turning off this feature will stop those apps permanently to use your data packet without your permission and it will also save battery life for you.
These were the few ways which you can try to extend smartphone battery life but I got here one last but the best way of increasing battery life.
