Lava Iris X5 Selfie Smartphone with Wide Angle Front Camera Launched for 8,649

These days, the advancement of smartphone has captivated us with the latest technologies. One such aspect is selfies and the social media is flooded with nuerousw self portrait shots. Understanding this requirement, the smartphone makers have started coming up with selfie focused handsets fitted with capable front-facers paired with LED flash, wide angle lens and so on.

Lava was speculated to launch its first selfie focused smartphone in the X lineup of handsets. Now, the vendor has announced the smartphone dubbed Lava Iris X5 carrying a price tag of Rs 8,799. The handset is available via online retailer Amazon exclusively for Rs 8,649 and it comes with freebies such as flip cover, screen protector and 16 GB memory card.

Talking of the technical specifications, the Lava Iris X5 is given a standard 5 inch IPS display that packs in a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Under its hood, there operates a quad-core processor ticking at 1.2 GHz clock speed. This is aided by 1 GB of RAM that can handle decent levels of multi-tasking.

As far as the imaging hardware is concerned, the Lava smartphone comes packed with an 8 MP primary snapper with OmniVision BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 5p lens and dual LED flash for an enhanced performance. Also, the handset flaunts a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera that is coupled with LED flash, 4 element lens and 84 degree wide viewing angle. These aspects of the handset make it a selfie focused smartphone as it can even capture a group selfie with its wide front camera.

Fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, the Lava Iris X5 bundles 8 GB of internal storage capacity that can be expanded by another 32 GB using a micro SD card. For connectivity, it includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG and dual SIM support. Powering it from within is a 2,100 mAh battery that should be capable of delivering a decent backup to the handset.

On the competition front, the Lava Iris X5 is likely to witness a direct competition with the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone that is priced attractively at Rs 5,999.
