On Thursday, the Android Wear based Motorola smartwatch – Moto 360 was listed on e-commerce portal Flipkart for a pricing of Rs 17,999. Following this, today the vendor has announced the official launch of the wearable device for the same price tag.
The Moto 360 comes fitted with a 1.5 inch touch screen display that carries a screen resolution of 320×290 pixels and this is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass scratch resistant coating. Moreover, the round shape of the display maximizes the display area, but it has a small gap at its bottom.
The wearable device makes use of a TI OMAP 3 SoC that is aided by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of native storage space. The smartwatch is compatible with all the devices running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and later. Also, there is support for Bluetooth LE connectivity to pair with the smartphones. A 320 mAh battery operates under the hood of the Moto 360 and it is rated to provide up to 12 hours of backup.
The Android Wear based Moto 360 also features a pedometer and heart rate sensor that can aide in the fitness requirements of the users. Also, the device relies on the Google Now service. Furthermore, it comes with IP67 certificate that makes it water resistant indicating that you can wear it even during rain. The smartwatch comes with a leather belt strap, two Stainless steel straps and other variants that will be announced later.
As of now, Flipkart is selling the Grey leather variant of the Moto 360 smartwatch for Rs 17,999 and it is available from noon today exclusively via the retailer. Over the past days, Motorola announced the second generation Moto X officially for a pricing of 31,999 for the ordinary variant and Rs 33,999 for the Leather and Wood variants respectively. Furthermore, the vendor also launched the second generation Moto G smartphone soon after its global launch for Rs 12,999. These smartphones are also available exclusively via the online retailer itself.
