Motorola has announced a limited period discount on the Motorola Moto X Force, which brings down the retail price of the device to INR 34,999 for the 32GB and Rs 37,999 for the 64GB. This equates to a discount of more than Rs 16,000, perhaps the biggest discount that we have seen in the recent past for any smartphone at one go.
The Motorola Moto X Force was announced at close to INR 50,000 and drew a lot of criticism despite the revolutionary unbreakable display that the phone features. However, thanks to the bad pricing, the phone was dismissed right in the initial phase and the interest in the phone went south. Despite this amazing prize drop, the phone would now be competing against the likes of Nexus 6P and Samsung Galaxy S6, devices which have comfortably become really popular.
This begs the question that if Motorola did have such high margins on the phone, why did they decide to launch the phone at such an obscene price. The rift between the Moto X Style, the flagship device, and the Moto X Force was really wide and that kind of played into the hands of the competitors, where despite fantastic specs and a unique proposition, the Moto X Force was never a realistic buy. And now, that the limited discount is here, you wonder how much of a repair job would that be able to do and whether it would be a case of too less, too late.
