As we notified you earlier that Sony is going to announce a new smartphone on April 20, a new device has been unveiled in a very recent event held in Japan.
This unveiling was very quiet, and the device is named Sony Xperia Z4.
Bad move Sony, we were expecting a surprise!
As per the details leaked earlier, this new smartphone was supposed to be named Xperia Z3 Neo, as it is an upgraded version of the previous year flagship.
This was the big surprise that we were expecting, but it seems like Sony had different plans. Now this new smartphone isn’t going to help the brand a much, but still let’s have a look at the complete official specifications of Xperia Z4.
Sony Xperia Z4 Specs
As I already told you that this is just an upgraded version of last year flagship model, so there isn’t much visual changes. Sony just planned to offer a processor upgrade to this device, while keeping everything else, same. But, it does have a metal frame running around the edges.
The device holds a 5.2inch display with full HD resolution, which seems to be off-trend at the moment. Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is under the hood to power up the device and this is among the fastest processor of 2015, currently.
3GB of RAM is in there along with 32GB internal storage and a slot for microSD card that can support up to 128GB of size. This is the storage combination offered by the device.
The rear side holds same 20.7MP camera (f/2.0 aperture) with Optical Image Stabilization. The front selfie camera has an upgrade, featuring 5.1MP shooter with a 25mm wide-angle lens. The selfie camera has OIS feature, which is really cool and may help the device to get some selling points.
With a bunch of few more software upgrades, this is the story of 2015, Xperia Z4. The device is juiced up by a 2,930mAh battery.
With all those specifications, it is clear to you now that this isn’t the device to buy at the moment, if you’re the kind of person who loves to buy a device with latest generation features.
But, if you’re looking for a smartphone with impressive design, faster performance, better battery life (that’s because the resolution is still full HD, not the battery hungry 2k), and of course the Sony branding.
But, seriously, Sony should have named it Xperia Z3 Neo!
Just to update you, Sony is working on a new device which is expected to be launched in the later half of 2015. The rumored device is expected to have a fingerprint sensor at the power button, all-new unibody design, and much more.
Thoughts?
Oh, did I mentioned that it will be available in same sets of colors as of last year?
There is nothing known about when it will be available, but Japan is going to receive it first. I’m expecting it to reach global shores, particularly Indian, in the month of June.
