Spice Stellar 519 phone launched; ft. LTE for the First time

April 27, 2015 by Pawan Kumar

It’s hard to believe, but Spice wasn’t having any LTE compatible smartphone in its lineup. And, covering that gap, an all new Spice Stellar 519 has been launched for the price of 8,499INR, featuring LTE for the first time. The news was shocking to me as well, as I never thought that LTE wasn’t introduced by the brand till now.

No doubt, its a good move and the smartphone is going to offer a future safe device, as LTE (4G) is going to be available soon throughout the country.

Those who are new to LTE, it is an upgraded cellular network technology and a successor of 3G, offering very high download and upload speed on wireless cellular networks.

Talking of the device, it is driven by Snapdragon quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.2GHz and supported by 1GB of RAM. The internal storage mark is 8GB while a storage expansion slot is also in the device, supporting a maximum of 32GB microSD card.

5inch phablet sized display covers the front, offering a resolution of 480×854 pixels. The pixel density on paper is just 196ppi. So, this is the first disappointing thing as the display isn’t HD, in spite of having a price tag of 8.5kINR.

Android 4.4 KitKat OS is the main software inside, and there are dual SIM card slots. Apart from LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS are also available within.

Coming at the camera specs, 8MP is at the rear (with autofocus) while 3.2MP is at the front. The rear one has LED flash, and it ends the story of specifications of the camera here. Although, the common features (like HDR, Face detection) will be there which are easily found in every low price tagged phone have.

2500mAh battery is the main power source offering enough power source for the device to stay alive for a single day, of course, on average usage. But, on continuous usage, it may not last for half of the day, which is the story of every low priced Android smartphone.

During the launch event, CEO of Spice Mobility Ltd, Mr. Prashant Bindal said, “We are thrilled to introduce our first 4G LTE smartphone – Stellar 519, which promises to deliver an outstanding and seamless internet browsing experience. The new Stellar 519 offers a scintillating combination of an amazing user experience with excellent speed and multi-tasking options. This is a great device for customers looking for a smartphone that has it all. We have packed in our latest technology complemented with a one-of-its-kind, unique 4G experience never before seen on a mid-range smartphone.”

Let’s see how this device gets a response in the market. Although LTE is getting common but still under the price tag below 10kINR, there are still very few options available.

I’m getting a sense that this Spice Stellar 519 will soon have a price cut, and this is how it will help itself to get more customers.
