It is a surprising but much-needed move by Xiaomi. Breaking the exclusivity of its products to Flipkart, Xiaomi has begun its partnership with Amazon.in and Snapdeal in India.
Now, Indian consumers will be able to buy Mi tablets, smartphones and other accessories on three of the most popular e-commerce platforms. Good news, right?
During the early stage of Xiaomi’s baby steps in India, it started selling the devices with Flipkart. At that time, it was kind of a test, as they never brought a high volume of device units for the country.
But after getting huge applause for their first device, Xiaomi Mi3 (mainly due to aggressive pricing), they increased their efforts to the Indian market.
Now coming to Amazon.in and Snapdeal
Now, after getting well-settled, here comes their next step. A big one, indeed!
It all started in the month of June, last year and now in April, this year (after completing a year), Xiaomi is working all it can strengthen its market share.
Being available on two other leading e-commerce platform is definitely going to boost the sales graph but it also depends on the fact whether they have increased the manufacturing process or not.
From the very first day of their business in the country, Mi products are available through weekly flash sales, which were tough for consumers. But it also created the much-needed hype.
Together with all three e-commerce platforms, they are taking the business in the country aggressively.
A competitor from their own country, Gionee is also taking aggressive steps in order to spread the word throughout the country. They are the new sponsor of KKR (IPL Cricket) team.
Long story, in short, after selling around 1 million units last year, they are getting serious to boost that sales figure to reach 2-3 million this year.
Also reaching offline retailers
While e-commerce still remains as the favourite platform for the brand to sell its devices, they also tied up the similar knot with The Mobile Store to boost offline sales, according to Economic Times.
Yes, very soon, Mi smartphones and tablets will be available in the offline market as well (that’s a relief, huh?).
No doubt, The Mobile Store retail outlets are available throughout the country and it is definitely going to help the brand to get its presence on the ground.
Undoubtedly, with all such expenses going, we may experience a price bump in the products range.
Meanwhile, they are all set to celebrate their 5th birthday (Mi Fan Festival 2015), rolling out exciting offers. How do you feel now Xiaomi fans?
